Pastor’s message

Pastor Doug directory photo 2014Whether you are member or friend, visitor or just curious, thank you for taking the time to check out our web-site. Our hope is that the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ will be yours to experience even through these pages, whether you are looking for a church or just seeking for more of a personal relationship with God.

First Congregational Church of Cromwell was established January 5th, 1715 to serve a group of 24 individuals who wanted a church home of their own. Throughout the centuries the church has been an intricate part of the community reaching out to all of its residents to minister to all.

We are a community made up of individuals and families from all facets of life, religious backgrounds, young and old, whom have one thing in common; we believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary, was dead, buried and on the 3rd day rose again – thus because of our faith in Jesus Christ and what He did, we are called Christians.

For us, it’s all about relationships. First and foremost – with God through His Son, Jesus Christ; second – with other believers gathered together for worship, fellowship, prayer and ministry together; and third – with the community reaching out beyond our doors to share with others God’s life changing love.

Now in my 30th year as Pastor, I give thanks to the Lord for allowing me the privilege and the opportunity to serve this church and the community of Cromwell. I rejoice at the growth in the relationships that flourish though out the church as both new and old members join together working with and caring for each other.

There is nothing more exciting in the life of the church than when someone finds a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ; grows in their relationship with God and other Christians; and then reaches out to others sharing what God has done personally in their own life and what He could do for them if they let Him.

I want to personally invite you and your family to come and join with us Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. to experience for yourself the life changing power of His great Love. You can read all the best web-sites in the world about God, but it doesn’t come close to being there and experiencing it for yourself in person.

I look forward to personally meeting you. Until then, may God bless you richly.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Douglas G.J. Van Veldhuisen
